Elite GPS schools are preparing for the resumption of sport and extracurricular activities.
A GPS spokesperson said tonight while no firm date had been finalised, the aim was to have school sport resume in term 3.
The plan was to see football, chess, rugby, tennis, cross country and gymnastics resume.
There would absolutely be no sport in term 2.
The spokesperson said there would also be no trial games or pre-season games in term 2, but term 3 sport was promising.
“We are following the national framework but the decision sits with state government and GPS will abide by those guidelines.
“Everything is changing day to day and our priority is the health and safety of the community as well as the GPS community.

“Our priority is to allow all students the chance to participate in a safe school environment.’’
The GPS term two and three Sports and Activities are football, tennis, cross country, basketball, rugby, track & field and chess. The main term four sport is track and field.
News comes just seven weeks after the GPS association joined the QGSSSA, AIC and CaSSSA school associations in postponing sport as the COVID-19 crisis gripped the nation.
The move toward resuming school and community sport gathered place last week when the Australian Institute of Sport released a framework for the “Rebooting of Community Sport.’’
In the AIS document, endorsed by the National Cabinet and the Queensland Government, the framework outlined three distinct levels as part of a staged return.
Level 1 involved solo training, level 2 involved no contact but training within small groups of no greater than 10, and level 3 which was a full resumption.
South Queensland community rugby and Football Brisbane have been working on its players training on level 2 restrictions before resuming competitions in July.
