With the Queensland Football Schools league Grand Finals looming on Thursday, we have revealed each school’s key players to watch.
They possess speed, strength and could be the kingmakers who break open their respective finals following a successful season in term 3.
So who are they? Find out below.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
PACIFIC PINES – INTERMEDIATE BOYS
ISAAC MOUSLEY
A calm player on the ball, Mousley reads play like a book and distributes like the best of them.
JACK ORANGE
His footwork is second to none and his one-on-one ability paired with his accuracy and power makes him an elite finishing threat.
ROBINA – JUNIOR BOYS
MICAH FRIGO
A highly skilled attacking player whose game IQ will come in handy for his side when it matters most.
RHYS CARGILL
Yes he is small but don’t let that fool you, he is a dangerous player with speed to burn.
Leave him unmarked at your peril.
JUNIOR GIRLS
GEORGIA DIXON
Dixon will be looking for her strikers and with her fast and accurate passing skills, expect her to find them.
MADDIE BELL
An ever-reliable member of the team who leads by example.
She gives her teammates confidence just by being on the field.
SENIOR BOYS
DAVID RUSSELL
A freakishly good striker who was recently named to represent the Australian School Sport under 19s team after a wonderful National Championships showcase.
LUCAS SCHELL
The Year 12 student has been a leader in this space since Year 7 and in his last time leading the side out to battle, Schell will have extra motivation to get the job done.
VARSITY COLLEGE
SENIOR BOYS
PADDY MOORE
The engine room in the middle of the park, Moore does not stop moving and is a proper box-to-box midfielder.
Very tidy on the ball, Moore is a smart player who it wouldn’t surprise to see score.
SUNNY BIRCH
An exciting prospect with speed and plenty of it.
He has a deft touch, is a role model to his peers and is a great leader.
SENIOR GIRLS
ANJELINA UJDUR
An intelligent footballer whose touch and scoring ability from any spot makes her a constant threat.
She will look to make a statement.
EVIE MARTSCHINKE
A strong defender who thrives under pressure.
Martschinke is also an incredible teammate and role model.
INTERMEDIATE BOYS
JACK LYNCH
Lynch is the scoring machine who could break the game open.
Clinical from in front of goal, Lynch’s speed and jammy dribbling ability will make him a handful for his opposition to handle.
COREY FRIEDMAN
Tough as teak, Friedman is strong and physical in challenges, throws his body on the line and in possession he is calm, composed.
The silky skills and passion of Friedman makes him a coaches dream player.
JUNIOR GIRLS
AVA MARSHALL
A dangerous attacking player who works tireless on both sides of the ball.
Tough with a capital T.
TIANNA RICHARDS
Possessing extreme pace, the hot on heels Richards makes great runs in behind and has the ability to deliver it into the box.
STRETTON COLLEGE
GEORGIA DEAN
A smart footballer with a keen eye for a goal.
Her IQ and leadership will shine through, as will her attacking prowess and defensive reliability.
The Stretton skipper can play that is for sure.
SHUBREET SRAN
In her first year at the College, Shubreet has proven invaluable with her versatility and work rate a key to her school’s success.
Skilful, reliable and composed, Shubreet leads by example with her communication, direction and organisation in the backline.
