How do you possibly pick three fullbacks on the one side? Our solution was to put one in the No. 1 jersey, another on the wing and a third in the centres as a part of our schoolboys rugby league under-15 Team of the Season from south Queensland.
Our Walters Cup Team of the Season includes outstanding Year 10 talent.
Brisbane Broncos signed David Bryenton (Keebra Park SHS), Sydney Roosters signing Sangstar Figota (Wavell SHS) and the Suns under 16 All Australian Boys winger Dylan Patterson (PBC SHS) all made our side after strong contributions as fullbacks in a competition won by PBC SHS over Wavell SHS.
Aside from Bryenton’s selection, Keebra Park SHS, the best side in the home and away season, were also well represented.

KARYN MURPHY CUP FINAL REPLAY: MABEL PARK v KIRWAN SHS
Keebra Park SHS’s Queensland schoolboy selections Jai Bilish, Christian Rivers, Tomasi Vaitai and VJ Letalu all give their school strong representation.
We some how had to fit Marley McLaren (PBC SHS), Jai Bilish Keebra (Keebra Park SHS) and Elijah Birve (Caloundra SHS) in as well, eventually opting for Birve as first reserve chosen at No. 14.
Wavell SHS surged late in the season to almost claim the premiership with Hayden Smith (10) and Hayden Polson (11) playing their way into the squad after outstanding grand final day performances.
Wavell SHS hooker Zius Oloapu and utility Latrell Henry also had good finals’ series.
Marsden SHS also threatened for the premiership, but did suffer from losing elite edge forward Taylon To’a late in the season and never seeing young gun Lui Lee who played Langer Trophy.

There are several hard luck stories
Stretton State College’s Monte Betham was outstanding before being injured and was headed for the side for sure.
Coming off a strong season for the Tigers in Connell Challenge, he tore a MCL and his aggressive line running and game changing bursts were missed.
The likes of Redcliffe SHS duo Nate Berrigan and Cody Starr would normally have been automatic inclusions, but both probably spent more time off the field than on it.
Recliffe player, Amare Wynyard, also had his bid for a top squad selection eroded by injury as well, but when he was on the field, he was outstanding. It was no surprise Redcliffe SHS struggled when he was unavailable and Wynyard will be keen to push for a starting role in the Langer competition next year.
But outstanding young forward Jairus Halahala did make it in a season which included two Langer Trophy matches.
Another player from Redcliffe SHS who enjoyed time in the Langer was Tylah Akai, the prop who backed up a great season of Connell Challenge football. He was a leader of the pack for Redcliffe SHS.
And Redcliffe SHS student Sonny Herdegen was recognised for his effort as a Hard Yakka Award winners.

Discovery players
Emmanuel Artango (Stretton State College)
The fullback or winger positioned himself at the back and started sets off on the front foot. He has lightning speed to get on the outside of defenders.
Tayshaarn Tonga (Marsden SHS)
Signed by the Dolphins, hooker Tonga was excellent for Marsden SHS.
The Hard Yakka award winners
Bailey Vang (Stretton State College)
A hooker, he was a 40/20 specialist who also had speed out of dummy half.
Zephaniah Takitaki (Keebra Park SHS)
We just loved the big fella’s work ethic whenever we saw him play.
Sonny Herdegen (Redcliffe SHS)
The young half worked hard guiding his team around the paddock despite not having his No. 1 forwards always available.
Cooper Murphy (Keebra Park SHS)
A quiet achiever, Murphy controlled the ruck expertly, bringing his forwards onto the ball and threatening with his own close to the line darts.
Dominic Ierome (Mabel Park SHS)
The Mabel Park SHS lock was immense from start to finish. He ran hard, offloaded well, defended astutely and was a tryscorer.
Tawa-Dean Simpkins (Mabel Park SHS)
He mopped up tackles at fullback, was safe under the high ball and his communication was superb.
He is a classy player with potential.
