SPEED DEMONS OF THE LANGER TROPHY
Caloundra and Redcliffe State High Schools are chasing position No. 7 in the eight team competition, with the St Mary’s v Mabel Park SHS clash next month to determine team No.8.
Palm Beach Currumbin SHS, Marsden SHS, Keebra Park SHS, Ipswich SHS, Wavell SHS and Coombabah SHS were automatic qualifiers.
WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR IN WEDNESDAY’S CLASH
Caloundra SHS
Fullback Brooklenn Mundraby-Grogan: Brooklenn was electric against Mountain Creek SHS and tough to handle on the kick returns.
Kallum Murphy: Look for Murphy, a big strong centre, to be even more authoritative than he was against Mountain Creek SHS which was his first game back from an ACL injury.
Chase Paterson and Jack Sommerville: The boys won the ruck and got their team onto the front foot, enabling the likes of Jayden Smith to strike on the edge with his big frame.

Redcliffe SHS
Jack Cameron: Was he the most improved player in senior school football last season? A dummy half, he grew as the season progressed and was man of the match in Redcliffe’s Gee Cup premiership victory.
Jacob Taulani: Taulani was a wildcard out of last season’s Gee Cup. While the focus was on the likes of Langer Trophy edge forwards Ben Te Kura, Ryan Foran, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki, Jayden Wright and Harrison Schwenke, Taulani slipped a little under the radar. He is a big, mobile body who will throw plenty at Caloundra.
Team desperation: Redcliffe lost one match in 2021 and without getting too carried away with the emotion of it all, expect the squad to fight and scramble every inch of the way.
