BSHS will host Churchie, the only other team undefeated. Churchie has won four games, and tied one with Gregory Terrace in round two.
Ahead of a blockbuster round of games this weekend, we preview the TSS and IGS First XI teams, and uncover the competition’s top 10 leading run scorers and wicket takers so far this season.
The Southport School First XI
Ishaan Sandhu
A Mudgeeraba junior prodigy is diminutive in build, but bats about his weight. The right handed opener started the season with a blistering 82 and 32 not out, and after two scores below eight, hit the heights again last weekend with 54.
Cameron Sinfield
Sinfield is a quality slow bowler and opening batsman who always contributes. He has been the model of consistency with the bat – he has scores of 42, 26, 27, 28 and 12 – but his spin bowling has also netted seven wickets.
Jaxson Davies
Year 10 right hander Davies has raced to 227 runs so far this season, a haul which has included a remarkable century (101), 64 and 54 last weekend. The shackles are off this young batting ace.
Jacob Bath
You get a quality batsman and bowler when Bath plays – a two in one package. He can swing a bat from No. 3, and his right arm off spin contributes to TSS’ web which traps rivals. He recently claimed 3-28 and has two half centuries.
Riley Johnson
Johnson continues TSS’ proud tradition of outstanding keepers and leaders. Johnson is also an elite batsman who this summer has produced two thunderous knocks. Watch out, he can swing a match with his blazing blade.
Gabriel Leitch
Gabriel Leitch has had limited opportunities this season, but when TSS needed him most – against BBC – he delivered with a match winning knock of 51 not out (83 balls) which rescued an uncertain TSS.
Jason Campese
An attacking top order batsman for the Gold Coast Taverner’s representative side, Campese has polished a couple of TSS innings with quick fire 20s batting well down the order. He has also claimed a couple of wickets, but batting is his strength.
Ryan Summers
Off spin bowler Summers season seemed to peak with his four wickets last weekend against BSHS, but the truth is he has been outstanding all season. Often a new ball bowler, he builds pressure with tight bowling to his field.
Dushyant Thaman
A First XI player as a Year 10 student in 2023, the left arm orthodox spinner is going even better this season. His recent six wicket haul was rewarded for his consistency and team bowling, and this season has 12 victims in five games.
Ted Waterman
A right arm out swing, he is without peer in the competition for his economy. He builds pressure, nips out one or two wickets, and is more reliable than the Bank of England.
He is also a very handy late order batsman.
Luke Franks
A right arm fast bowler, Franks has come through the club representative system playing alongside TSS teammates like Dushyant Thaman, Jaxson Davies, Ishaan Sandhu and Cameron Sinfield. The youngster has been gaining valuable First XI experience this season at the bowling crease. He is a handy lower order batsman.
Ipswich Grammar School First XI
Jack Hillier
Ipswich Grammar’s opening bat has hit his straps after a slow start to this season.
He scored 63 last game and is averaging 25 with bat in hand. It is a good average for an opening batter in this competition.
Sohaan Sharma
Sharma had one of the knocks of the season with 103 off 88 in round four against BSHS and IGS will be hoping for more of the same from their opener. He is an aggressive right hander who can take a game away from the bowlers.
Dinek Kinigama
Kinigama is a class act who has circled several of our Teams of the Week this season. He is averaging 41.67 in four games, batting No. 3 for IGS and bolsters what is a very strong top order, featuring Hillier, Sharma, Kinigama and Kakkad.
Rushi Kakkad
The right-handed batter can do it all. The Western Suburbs Taverners selection can score quickly and also snare wickets - although he has not been called upon to do so.
He has a top score of 70 this season.
Noah Plater
Plater is averaging 33 with the bat and has done his job brilliantly in the middle order.
He scored 39 in the last match and can be trusted to get IGS out of a ditch if it comes to it.
Jacob Cibulka
All rounder Cibulka can swing a game with bat and ball. He scored 32 not out in IGS’ latest victory and in the same game took four wickets in five overs.
Jettison Emmerson
A right arm out swing bowler, Emmerson had a good off-season base playing club cricket at the Hornets, and IGS were reaping the benefits of him being match hardened. His success has no doubt given him more confidence as each week passes.
Luke Harper
Right arm slow bowler Harper has been marvellous at the bowling crease this season. His point of difference being his accuracy and ability to control and change his pace. He is one of the form bowlers.
Joshua Lossberg
The Western Suburbs Taverners selection has taken wickets in every game this season and looms as a threat against TSS.
While his best is yet to come this season, his bowling and capable lower order batting will be handy for IGS this weekend.
William Pamenter
Fast bowler Pamenter has been economical this year but more importantly has done the field changes and led the team to a 4-0 win-loss start to the season.
The First XV rugby forward opens the bowling for IGS.
Luke Sheppard
IGS’ wicketkeeper batsmen Luke Sheppard has swallowed seven catches this season and has produced runs in all three of his innings this season.
He will bat at No. 7 in this weekend’s blockbuster match at IGS.

5. Connor Rudman (Churchie)
Churchie are still well and truly in the race for the premiership and that’s got a lot to do with what Rudman has been doing opening the batting.

Following his unbeaten 65 against BBC last weekend, Rudman has now scored 168 runs at 42.
6. Matthew Fielding (Nudgee)
The Nudgee captain and opener scored 43 in a win in the latest round and has 163 runs on the season.

The handiest of all-rounders, Randhawa has racked up 146 runs at just under 30 this season and has taken wickets too.
8. D’Arcy Satharasinghe (BBC)
Satharasinghe has been superb in the middle order for BBC.
When wickets have fallen early, Satharasinghe has been there to resurrect the innings and chip in crucial runs to give BBC its best chance. He has scored 141 runs at 47.
9. Rushi Kakkad (IGS)
IGS’ No. 4 batter has been terrific in four games thus far. He has scored 139 runs at 34.75 and values his wicket.
His best knock came in round three where himself (70, 91 balls) and Dinek Kinigama (65 not out) put on an incredible partnership to post a 220 run total against BBC.
10. Cameron Sinfield (TSS)
Rounding out the top 10 run scorers is yet another TSS student, opener Cameron Sinfield.
Sinfield has got starts all season long and has taken the shine out of the new ball.
LEADING WICKET TAKERS
1. Henry Hillier (Churchie)
Churchie’s left arm orthodox spinner Hillier takes top billing five rounds into the season. Hillier has 15 wickets at 7.67 and is having a season to remember.
2. Dushyant Thaman (TSS)
Thaman has 13 wickets to his name with his six wicket haul last round one of the moments of the season.
3. Luke Harper (IGS)
IGS’ Luke Harper has played four games and taken 12 wickets at an average of nine.
The off spin bowler has taken five wickets in a game this season which is a tremendous achievement in this competition.
4. Jettison Emmerson (IGS)
Emmerson has nine wickets in four matches and has only bowled 24.5 overs.
A medium pacer, he has a bowling average of 9.11 and his best figures were 4-17.
5. Jacob Cibulka (IGS)
Cibulka, Emmerson and Harper have all had wonderful starts to the season with Cibulka Mr Consistent for IGS.
He jas nine wickets in four games and has churned out almost nine overs in every match.
6. Rupert Bignall (Churchie)

He has been impressive and has not bowled a single wide.
7. Gurnoor Randhawa (TGS)
Randhawa snared three wickets at the weekend to take his tally up to nine wickets on the season.
When he gets it right he is a hard young man to face.
8. Ryan Summers (TSS)
Seriously how good is this TSS team. Off spin bowler Summers is one cog in a powerhouse team gearing up for a premiership showdown.
Summers has nine wickets to his name so far this season and like Bignall, is yet to bowl a wide.
9. Ashton Clark (BBC)
Clark burst onto the scene with a six wicket haul and has stayed dangerous at the bowling crease.
Watch for him over the next few years for BBC.
10. Spencer Green (Nudgee)
Green has been Nudgee’s best bowler, the right arm quick producing 10 overs a game and leading the charge. He is a leg spinner on the rise.
His best figures were 3-4 in a brilliant win over Brisbane Grammar in round four.
