The next generation of Tigers besieged the home ground of GPS to sweep Easts to victory in the grand final rematch.
Easts won galloping away, winning 33-5, while at other grounds Brothers flexed their muscles in beating Wests 52-7, UQ beat a dogged Norths 19-13 while Bond Uni defeated Sunnybank 35-5.
At Ashgrove, both Easts and GPS had vastly different line-ups from last year’s premiership decider when GPS upset the Tigers.
But there was no upset today as an impressive new crop of cubs put their own stamp on the season with a fine win.
Backrowers Henry Wilson (captain), Taine Roiri (No. 8) and half Sam Farrar, stand-in hooker Christian Vidic and the new midfield pairing of Oryaan Kalolo (five-eight) and Luke Hatherell (inside centre) shone brightly.

With first half tries by Jarrod Homan and exciting Villa product Gus Godwin, Easts were in control leading 19-5 at halftime.
The pack maintained the rage in the second half, retaining their own attack ball and winning possession from GPS by pressure applied at the breakdown.
Even the Easts scrum claimed a penalty against the feed to complete the team’s domination.
Roiri was again enormous in the lineout, either claiming his own ball and marching forward, or tapping on to his half Sam Farrar or sweeping forwards.
The try of the match had to be the 65m counter attacking effort after Kalolo’s wide left sweep to Hatherell.
The ball then went to Liddy and Godwin, and when cornered Godwin then kicked ahead for Liddy to claim and score.
For GPS, lock Stuart Taulima continued to catch the eye and the Gallopers are fortunate to have him this season, while hard working lock Ethan Lucey rolled his sleeves up.

Bond Uni got their season rolling with a 35-5 win over Sunnybank after having a round 1 bye.
Bond, having barely played a trial match for one reason or another, will take the 30 point win over an improved Dragons and race back to the Gold Coast relieved to get the season underway.
Bond Uni’s performance was spearheaded by prop Iafeta Maa, hulking mobile backrower Carsen Patu and outside back Ethyn Martin.
Patu is an enormous prospect, a big, mobile ball playing forward who can play anywhere from No. 8 to prop, although in round 2 he played blindside flanker.
Sunnybank’s No.10 Woody Gollings tried to get things rolling for the Dragons, but coach Brendan Underwood said his team’s “exits weren’t good enough’’.
“Poor execution or pushing passes provided Bond too many times to strike,’’ Underwood said.
“When we did play we then ended our plays with dropped ball.
“The set piece is still an issue but there was improvement in the scrum,’’ he said, adding discplined also needed addressing.
Brothers were most impressive in dismantling Wests 52-7.
Coach Greg Beaver said the side executed its game plan well and put their training efforts into practice in what is always a danger game at Sylvan Road.
Brothers flanker Leo McCarthy was outstanding, his forward teammate Jack Condon tireless and inside centre Ben della Cort very effective.
For Wests, Toowoomba Grammar School product Will Johnston shone on the wing, but it was a tough day for the Bulldogs.
Assistant coach Will Findlay said Wests produced an improved scrumagnig effort, but Brothers were “more decisive’’.
At St Lucia, UQ led early before coming to rest ahead 19-13. “We got away to a good start and held on,’’ is how UQ coach Matt Ingham summed up the match.
For the second week running Hugo Perceva did well at lock, while No.8 James Caton (UQ) was a handful and winger Ben McMahon did plenty of good work.
Norths coach Dan Ritchie, frustrated to have two players sin binned, said his team had to aim up physically.
“We came close in the end and nearly got there, but the start in the first 20 minutes cost us.
“Our opportunity to win was there and I am disappointed we did not come away with a win.
Underrated Norths No. 8 Taelyn Nukunuku, Will McCulloch back from league duties, and fullback Hamish Muir starred for Norths, with Muir kicking three 50-20s.
