WOODCREST State College sisters Tianna and Armani Apelu recently represented at the met west regional netball state championships.

Year seven student Tianna was vice-captain of the under 12 side in a competition featuring 12 teams and the state’s best junior players.

Tianna, whose team finished sixth, said it was a great sporting and life lesson for her.

“What I learnt and developed from this experience was a lot about my personal self and the game of netball.’’ she said.

“I learnt how important it is to support my teammates and to be graceful in loss, but humble in wins.’’

She said she also had to adapt to lifting in hard games when we team needed her.

“As a shooter I had to be level headed and make sure I wasn’t overwhelmed by the crowd.

“It was more than a game and it was more than tournament. It was life lessons which I will take with me to use and remember.’’
