“On the back of that, to qualify and use that momentum and put together thus far a fantastic season, it is something we are really really proud of,” said Ipswich coach Joshua Bretherton

Taufa scored three tries, close to the line power house efforts.

A critical moment came with 12 minutes remaining when Ipswich dummy half So’otago scooted over to nudge his side into the lead 24-12.

Ipswich then finished with a flourish to score the final two tries of the game.

The match was just 90 seconds old when Marsden centre Tony Francis ripped a hole in the Ipswich defence to send his winger Colin Tui racing over.

Ipswich seemed a little shell shocked at the precision and pace of Marsden but a charge down and then a penalty got them into the game.

Ipswich struck on the right hand side when winger Segisolo Lapana beautifully half volleyed a ball thrown by his forward Riley Morris to score.

Ipswich made it back to back tries when centre Elane Taufa was responded to a lovely long dummy half passed by Wyatt So’otago.

The see-sawing first half then saw Marsden respond with aggressive forward running which saw winger Tui reward his pack with his second try of the evening as Marsden recaptured the lead 10-8.

Marsden added another try to Ricky Wells to lead 14-8.

As half time approached, and with Stanley Fiso making an impact Ipswich mounted another attack.

The Ipswich centre Elane Taufa was able to expertly position his winger Newman into position to create at try as Ipswich reduced the margin to 16-14 by the break.
