A spectacular defensive effort has led the Brisbane 1 Indoor hockey team to taking out the Queensland under 18’s championship in a thrilling penalty shootout.
Western suburbs resident Lara De Waal-Hart, the goalkeeper, stood out in the nailbiter saving six shots on goal and two of the three penalties to secure the title for Brisbane.
De Waal-Hart’s school mate at Brisbane State High School, Imogen Turner also came up with a great save to cap off a fantastic tournament for her.
IMOGEN TURNER HELPS BSHS WIN QGSSSA TITLE
The duo were rewarded for their outstanding efforts with selection to the Queensland state team to compete in the National Indoor Hockey Titles in January.
Also in the Brisbane side was Norths player Lily-Kate Charles.
It was a cracking final.
Both teams played extremely well, but it was Brisbane who prevailed over Maryborough.

The winning team was: Sevella Agnew (Arana Ascot), Lily-Kate Charles (Norths), Lara De Waal-Hart (Commercial), Sienna Graham (Commercial), Mekensie Hermann (Commercial), Phoebe Hudson (Commercial), Phoebe Lingard (St Andrews), Amelia Morgan (Arana Ascot), Imogen Turner (Commercial), Marine Van Der Wath (Commercial). Coach: Stuart Hudson, Manager: Graham Turner.
The team will play at the national championships in NSW during January.
