Retailers fear Australia Post disruptions will destroy Christmas business

A driver was lucky to escape injury after crashing through the front door of an Australia Post outlet at Kenmore Plaza this morning.

The female driver’s car mounted the footpath outside the busy shopping centre, on Moggill Rd, and ploughed through a glass door at 10.52am.

Fire fighters cut power to the shop and ambulance officers assessed the woman, who had no obvious injuries.

No passersby were there at the time.

Resident Paria Jalili, who had just left a Woolworths supermarket at the time, said ambulance officers were already treating the driver when she came out to return to her car.

“It’s a large kerb. You could get up it with four wheel drive but it would be hard in a car that small,’’ she said.

Staff at the nearby Epic Hair salon and Plum cafe said they heard a huge crash but did not see the accident.

The post office could not be contacted as the power was off.

Indooroopilly Police are investigating.

A QAS spokesman said the driver had no obvious injuries.
