While many might feel as though a particular tasty treat changed their lives forever, few can say one actually did.

Yet that is the reality for Wynnum West couple Rachael Rutkowski and Joshua Martin.

The pair decided to completely redirect the trajectory of their careers after tasting an OMG! Decadent Donuts dessert for the first time at a local kite festival in September.

Veering away from their previous jobs as a project manager and a scaffolder and moving toward a future with more work-life balance, the couple will launch OMG! Decadent Donuts Brisbane East in the coming weeks.

It will be their first business venture together with a base at the Jan Powers Farmers Markets in Manly, where they will sell a range of allergy-friendly treats every fortnight.

Mr Martin said he and Ms Rutkowski will be making the doughnuts themselves to deliver and sell at pop-up stalls in markets across the city’s east, including in Bulimba, Cannon Hill, Manly West, Morningside, Wakerley and Wynnum.

The couple will join about 70 other licensees Australia-wide in representing the wildly popular and quickly-growing, new company.

If all goes according to plan, Mr Martin and Ms Rutkowski may soon open operate their business from a food truck and eventually a permanent shopfront.

For now, they will be selling their product at different markets on weekends and on three or four weekdays.

“We’ve booked into a few markets,” Mr Martin said.

“(We’ll also be) popping up at our house and doing deliveries, or we’ll sell to locations with events.”

The allergy-friendly treats will be available for purchase at Manly farmers market Jan Powers on February 4.

Customers will have their pick of a variety of doughnuts made using sugars handcrafted from fresh Australian fruits, spices, and vegetables, with flavours including orange, raspberry, beetroot, lemon, strawberry, cacao and mint, lime and coffee as well as OMG! classic, cinnamon.

All doughnuts are vegan and free from gluten, wheat, egg, dairy, nuts, sulfite, and preservatives with no artificial additives, colourings or preservatives.

The treats are also kosher and halal and have certifications from Coeliac Australia and Vegan Australia.
