Queensland’s largest indoor play centre has announced plans for a major expansion as the $10 million venue celebrates its first birthday.
The Jungle Adventure Play at Tingalpa, a 6000 sqm centre which opened in June last year, has been approved for a stage two development.
The development means the venue will add another attraction before Christmas.
The news comes after Jungle Adventure Play called for Brisbane children to try their hand at the centre’s Gorilla Warrior course – a mini replica of the courses of one of the country’s most popular game shows Australian Ninja Warrior – these school holidays.
With similar obstacles to the adult Ninja Warrior course, Gorilla Warrior features an arc beam, spin cycles, inclined steps and more.
Jungle Adventure Play founder Lachlan Walker said the course, which is recommended for children over 12-years-old and a minimum height of 130cm, would be a hit once the centre reopened after Brisbane’s snap Covid lockdown.
“It’s no easy feat, we’ve had adults who have struggled to complete the course, but it’s great to see kids give it a go,” Mr Walker said.
“Not only are they having fun, but they’re also challenging themselves, learning, getting stronger and building confidence.
“Once we’re on the other side of this lockdown, I’m sure parents and kids will be ready to ditch the screens and get active for the second half of the school holidays and what better way than to attempt the Gorilla Warrior course.”
Mr Walker said the centre had been a hit since its launch last year with around 120,000 customers visiting the venue since June, 2020.
The launch of The Jungle Adventure Play’s new course comes just a week after global active entertainment leader, BOUNCEInc, launched its first-ever miniBOUNCE at Carindale last week.
