“Through speaking with teachers, parents and the wider community, it was apparent that Gumdale State School needs further upgrades to cater for the growing number of enrolments,” Mr Minnikin said.
“Gumdale State School’s enrolment numbers are at full capacity and some of the classroom facilities currently in place aren’t cutting it.
“This is why I am committed to this upgrade.”
Mr Minnikin said he had seen how upgrades like the master plan can drastically boost the learning experience for students and improve the environment for hardworking teachers and staff.
Gumdale State School parent and P & C member, Troy Thomson, said the further $1m upgrade would mean a lot to the school.
“We’re blessed here at Gumdale State School to have great facilities and to continue to improve those into the future will really help with the learning environment and experience for the kids as they continue to grow,” he said.
The announcement was a commitment from the LNP ahead of the State Government election on October 31.
