The North Gold Coast Seahawks proved too strong for the Toowoomba Mountaineers on their home court in the Basketball Queensland QSL1 competition on Saturday
The men’s team enjoyed an emphatic 102-64 victory, while the women’s team also triumphed, though by a narrower 74-62 margin.

WOMEN’S REPLAY: SEAHAWKS d MOUNTAINEERS 74-62
The North Gold Coast Seahawks have continued to show why they are the favourites to take out this year’s QSL1 championship after maintining their undefeated start to the season alive following the 12-point victory over Toowoomba.
North Gold Coast got off to a flyer against the winless Mountaineers women as Lauren Jansen continued her dominant season so far with the Seahawks leading 36-25 at halftime.
But the Mountaineers didn’t go away and in arguably their best performance of the year, Matt Cox’s side battled back with Raquel Spies leading the way to win the third quarter 22-18 and set up a massive final period.
But the experience and depth of the Seahawks proved too much as the home side finished the night with a 74-62 victory at the Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Stadium.
Jansen was impressive once again with 23 points and 12 rebounds while Courtney Willemse (19 points) and Jess Boundy (18 points) also contributed.
Spies was the top scorer for the Seahawks with 15 points while Despena Dickenson and Jorja Bolton both had 10.

The North Gold Coast Seahawks put on an absolute offensive masterclas against the Toowoomba Mountaineers to record an impressive 38-point victory at home.
North Gold Coast, who only have one loss so far this season, had six players score in double figures as they dominated the visitors from the opening tip.
Jordan Mullan’s side ran out to an early 36-15 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as the Mountaineers continued to struggle on the road.
David Gurney and Riley Coombes both led the scoring with 19 points, skipper Jesse Lomas had 11 while Amarco Doyle, Cody Mueleman and Wilson Page all had 10.
Joshua Allen was the standout for the Mountaineers with 25 points.
