NewsCorp to livestream Basketball Queensland SQJBC finals, Under-16 State Championships

More than 50 games showcasing the state’s best hoops prospects are set to be streamed live over the next month as part of The Courier-Mail’s ongoing partnership with Basketball Queensland.
The livestream coverage includes this Saturday’s SQJBC grand finals at the Hibiscus Sports Complex as well as the State Under-16 Championships at the Northside Indoor Sports Centre (boys) and Auchenflower Stadium (girls) from April 6-9.
Our coverage of the SQJBC finals features every game from court one at the Upper Mt Gravatt venue, starting with the under-16 girls and finishing with the under-21 men’s premier league championship decider.
While the stream from next month’s state championships will include all games from one court at each venue across the four days.
The extended coverage follows NewsCorp’s stream of the State Under-18 Championships on the Gold Coast in January as well as several other tournaments in 2020, including the Championship Basketball School of Queensland, and the Queensland State League.
“It’s just the start of what could well be our biggest year of basketball live streaming,’’ Bryce Johns, NewsCorp’s executive editor digital, said.
“Basketball Queensland have been a fantastic partner and viewership of these tournaments has been very strong.”

Basketball Queensland chief executive officer, Joshua Pascoe, said they were excited to have NewsCorp on board for more livestream coverage.
“Basketball Queensland is excited to build on our relationship with NewsCorp through providing livestreaming for our competitions,” he said.
“The opportunity allows family, friends and spectators to be able to tune in from around the world to support their players and teams as the compete.”
