Brisbane Capitals host the Gladstone Power in the Basketball Qld QSL1 game of the week

The Gladstone Port City Power will make the trip south looking to record their second major upset when they take on the Brisbane Capitals in the Basketball Queensland QSL1 game of the week.

Brisbane and Gladstone will face-off at Auchenflower Stadium on Saturday with the women’s game at 1pm followed by the men at 3pm.

Both games will be livestreamed in this story with the video appearing 30 minutes before tip-off.

Previously winless, the Gladstone men gave their home fans something to cheer about in their last game on June 12, beating one of the favourites to take out the title in the North Gold Coast Seahawks for their first victory of the season.

But they will face another tough task against the third-placed Capitals, who are coached by the legendary Bruce Palmer and will be looking to bounce back following a loss to the Seahawks last week.

Brisbane took the spoils when the teams last matched-up on May 29, beating the Port City Power 74-59 on their home court.

Gladstone’s dynamic duo of Mitchell Knight and Daniel Green dominated in the team’s victory over the Seahawks and will need to fire again against the balanced attack of the Capitals.

REPLAY: QSL BASKETBALL - BRISBANE VS GLADSTONE (WOMEN’S)

In the women’s match, the third-placed Capitals are also coming off a loss to North Gold Coast and will take on a Gladstone side desperate for a win after losing the first four games to tip-off the year.

The last time the two teams met it was the Capitals who dominated, coming away from central Queensland with a 22-point victory.

Shayli Wilks and Gabrielle Neal will look to lead the Capitals again while the Port City Power will need the likes of Jameson McMullen and Jay-Lee Hippolite to continue to put up numbers to try and upset the home side.
