Belmont resident Martine Carroll will be part of the Kelvin Grove State College team which will compete at the national tennis titles to be held in Albany starting next week.

Belmont resident Martine Carroll will be part of the Kelvin Grove State College team which will compete at the national tennis titles to be held in Albany starting next week.

The event will continue a stellar season for Carroll, who earlier this year was a part of the school team which saw Kelvin Grove fly Australia’s flag at the world championship in Italy earlier in the year.

She also partnered with fellow Kelvin Grove teammate, Sydney Stone, to win the doubles at this year’s national clay court titles.

“Martine is one of the best players at Kelvin Grove,’’ said tennis excellence co-ordinator Trent Steele.

“She is No. 1 in Queensland for her age and this year became national champion in doubles at the clay court championships.

“She was part of the Kelvin Grove team that represented Australia in Italy at the world championships earlier this year and will contest the National Championships again.”

Earlier this year Carroll and her teammates met Ashleigh Barty, the world No. 1 tennis player.
