Manly West man in court for alleged supermarket armed robbery, Woolloongabba

A man made off with a sum of cash, after holding a supermarket staff member at knifepoint in an alleged armed robbery overnight.

A Brisbane man will face court today after a supermarket staff member was threatened with a knife during an alleged armed robbery overnight.

Police have charged a man with the armed robbery at a supermarket in Woolloongabba yesterday.

It will be alleged just after 8pm, the man attended the business on Ipswich Road armed with a knife and threatened an employee, before fleeing with a sum of cash.

The staff member was not physically injured during the incident.

Officers attended the scene and subsequent investigations led them to locate the man a short distance away at an address on O’Keefe Street.

A 33-year-old Manly West man was taken into custody and charged with one count each of armed robbery, stealing and possess dangerous drugs.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 2.
