Trent Steele, Tennis Excellence co-ordinator at Kelvin Grove State College, said the team came fifth, but as much as they were competitive on the court, the whole experience developed them.
Steele said both Taylor and Villagra brought different strengths to the program.
“Lily took out the individual national championships in 2018 and is a true champion at the top of the country in her age,’’ Steele said.
“She is a national academy member and has an instinct for winning and is a smart player. She is also a smart person which helps her tactical and psychological side of tennis.’’

Steele said Villagra was a state representative until a wrist injury halted her progress. “She had surgery last year and is on the come back trail representing Australia in the Kelvin Grove team that contested the world championships in Italy. “Javiera will lead the team into battle at the national team championships.’’
