The father of a man, whose death still remains unsolved almost two years after his body was found in a sewage tank, says he has renewed hope after

Jason Guise, 45, was last seen in Wynnum on April 21 in 2019 before his body was found on May 8 by maintenance workers at a location on Granada St with police believing the death was suspicious.

Acting Detective Inspector of the Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch and East Crime Group, Mark Mooney, yesterday announced the reward for anyone who helps bring prosecution to the killers.

And today Jason’s father, Barry Guise, said he believed the reward would help finally bring closure for his family.

“That’s all we want, closure,” Mr Guise said.

“We’ve managed to deal with it but you can never truly move on until you know what happened.

“Myself as well as his sisters and his two kids just want closure. We think the police putting up this reward will be a massive help because the police are doing all they can but they’re not Superman, they need assistance to solve these types of cases too.”

Mr Guise, who admitted his son was tied up with drugs, said the way his son’s body was found has eaten at him ever since.

“No one wants to die in a sh*t pit, and he was in there for a couple of weeks,” he said.

“Unfortunately he was involved with drugs and when you’re involved in things like that, you never know what can happen, it’s never safe.

“But these people who were involved in Jason’s death have no values, that’s just the people they are.

“It would be multiple people too because he was around the 95-100kg mark and he could fight too, I’ve seen him beat some big guys in a fight before so it would take a huge effort for people to dump him in a sewage tank.”

Insp Mooney said anyone with information, or who was involved in the crime before, during or after Jason’s death is urged to come forward.

In addition to the reward an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
