A Brisbane woman and Queensland Police Service worker has been remembered as a “caring” and “generous” person in an emotional tribute after she was killed in a tragic car crash in the city’s southeast.

Donna Farkas, 55, died after a Ford wagon, in which she was a passenger, collided with a tree on Tuleen Close in Tingalpa around 3.30pm on Saturday.

Mrs Farkas, a Tingalpa resident, was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical injuries but died a short time later.

The 60-year-old man who was driving the car and is believed to be Mrs Farkas’ husband Frank, was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

A civilian member of the QPS, who worked in police chaplaincy, Mrs Farkas was one of the people behind initiatives such as police Remembrance Day celebrations.

QPS chaplain Matt Govan said he wanted to make a statement from his own heart, which was also a reflection of all members of the service, who have commented with sadness on the loss of Mrs Farkas.

“Donna was a beautiful, gentle, caring, generous person who went above and beyond bringing compassion, happiness and support to those she interacted with,” he said.

“Donna was a much loved, highly respected and integral part of the safety and wellbeing administration, chaplaincy, community supporting police and Police Remembrance Day teams.

“Donna supported many members across the Queensland Police Service in their time of need coordinating accommodation for members affected by loss, illness and tragedy.

“Her smile and enthusiasm were contagious and will be missed. To many she was more than a colleague, she was a friend.”

Mrs Farkas’ friends described her as an amazing and unselfish person.

“She was an incredibly kind and compassionate person, who was always looking out for others,” a close friend of Mrs Farkas said.

“She was so generous and thoughtful.

“We are all really struggling to come to terms with this tragic loss.”

Another close friend said Mrs Farkas was one of the most caring people you could come across.

Forensic Crash Unit investigators are still investigating the incident.
