Boxer Dennis Hogan put his golden gloves to work for a good cause today at the Lang Park PCYC during a fundraiser for the Parkinson Fighters United organisation.
Hogan, who went to the brink of claiming a world title during an unlucky defeat to Mexican
Jaime Munguia in April, pounded out 18, two minute rounds as part of a 100 round non-stop fundraiser.
Supporters of the campaign threw “cash on the canvas’’ for the opportunity to spar with Hogan.

The other 82 continuous rounds were performed by supporters and sponsors of the fundraiser.
“The event was called 100 Rounds, it was a team relay to keep the punching bags moving for 100 Rounds,’’ said Madonna Brady from Parkinson Fighters United.
“It was Dennis Hogan’s brilliant idea bringing together people living with Parkinson’s, current boxing greats, legends and friends supporting each other and raising funds.’’
“Parkinson’s Fighters United are facilitating an upcoming training event to train coaches and volunteers to work specifically with people living with Parkinson’s,’’ she said. This will be held on September 14-15 at PCYC Lang Park.
Hogan’s teammate at the Stretton Boxing Club, former world champion Jeff Horn, poked his head in to give boxers his morale support this afternoon.
Hogan first started working with Parkinson’s sufferers around 2014 and when time permits, lends his support to the Parkinson Fighters United where he is patron.
He said boxing not only helped sufferers with their health, for some it also slowed down the onset of the disease.
