Developers from far and wide are trying to get their hands on a prime piece of undeveloped bayside land which is up for grabs in one of Brisbane’s hottest locations.
JLL Metro Sales and Investments last week advertised the “prime development opportunity” at Lot 6 Charlotte St in the heart of Wynnum’s CBD as the suburb’s recent rejuvenation continues.
The 1619 sqm block of land, which is known locally as the old tennis courts at the back of the now closed Wynnum Central School, surrounds several of the suburb’s latest and flashiest projects including the historic new cinema, and is expected to fetch millions from interested buyers.
Sitting in the eight-storey area under the Wynnum Manly Neighbourhood Plan, the location is a mixed use zone, which means the Brisbane City Council would also be looking for commercial use on the ground floor.
Councillor for Wynnum Manly Peter Cumming (ALP) said a steady succession of new apartment blocks in Wynnum Central would facilitate the improvement in restaurants, bars and shops in the area.
Harry Borger from JLL Brisbane, who is in charge of the listing, said the Charlotte St land was a cracking site which had already attracted strong interest in recent days.
“It’s obviously just in such a great location, right in the middle of the Wynnum CBD and on the bayside, so there’s been a lot of interest, we’re happy with the way it’s tracking so far,” he said.

“The great thing about it being mixed zoning is can be used for a lot of things so we’ve had interest from a variety of different industries.”
The tender for the site closes on May 6 at 4pm.
