With a bar, cinema and gym along with views of Moreton Bay will all be part of a mega $44 million luxury aged care community set to transform a suburb in Brisbane’s south.
CPSM Care is about a month away from launching their fifth home in southeast Queensland with a 141-bed development at 754 Old Cleveland Rd, Camp Hill after almost two years of construction.
And the company, which already has locations in Holland Park, Kippa Ring, Aspley and Coomera, says its newest site has features it has never included before.
“There are some design elements that have occurred due to the pandemic that wouldn’t have otherwise,” CPSM Care business manager, Shane Winterton, said.
“We have gone completely away from hotel style airconditioning and temperature control.
“All the rooms are now independently airconditioned which added some cost to the project overall but protects from hotel style cross contamination we saw during the pandemic in closed environments.
“It’s back to the good old Queenslander days, louvres in every hallway and lounge room, ceiling fans in all common areas, this building has been carefully redesigned to breath and every consideration for pandemic has been made.
“We have never done an aged care development where every room has its own private balcony.
“This is a game changer, there’s no better or lesser accommodation in this building, everyone has access to get outside either in private or within shared community spaces.”
Mr Winterton said all the wings at the Camp Hill location took the names of islands in Moreton Bay after the realised you could see North Stradbroke and Moreton Island in the distance after their first visit to the site.
“The Stradbroke wing is going to be particularly special with a bar, cinema, gym, dining areas and outdoor communal areas with a view of the islands.
“This development is enormous for the community, 139 single ensuited resident rooms designed into eight smaller living communities in one home.
“An estimated 120-plus jobs will be created in the middle of Camp Hill, where previously there was a vacant block of land for the last few years.”
Mr Winterton also said there was a need for state-of-the-art, modern luxury aged care communities in Brisbane’s south.
“Older clinical-style accommodation is no longer acceptable and nor is big box aged care,” he said.
“Families want smaller wings, more lounges, outdoor spaces and modern buildings that feel like a home and not an institution.”
CPSM Care’s Camp Hill location is expected to open sometime in August.
