Another ’for lease’ sign has been thrown out and converted into a flashy new shopfront after a beauty parlour replaced an iconic fruit and veg shop on Brisbane’s bayside.
CoCo Chelsea Nails and Beauty opened its doors at 73 Edith St, Wynnum today continuing the rejuvenation of the retail industry in the waterfront suburb.
The launch of the new business is the first time the site has been operating since the Wynnum Central Fresh Fruit Barn, which closed in February last year after almost 70 years.
The beauty parlour is the brainchild of Vy Phan, who comes from three generations of family members working in the industry and has more than 15 years experience herself.
Ms Phan grew up in the US around family, who worked in beauty before moving to Australia at 17 and falling in love with doing nails and providing beauty services.
“In the midst of Covid-19 and being unsure of when lockdowns would occur, I took the risk and moved to Queensland from Sydney earlier this year to fulfil my dream of opening my own business, which I have done so here in Wynnum,” she said.
”I care very much about providing customers with the best services and ensuring every customer that leaves feels like the best version of themselves.
“I pride myself in ensuring not only beautiful services but also hygienic self-care.”
CoCo Chelsea Nails and Beauty has the latest models of luxury spa pedicure massage chairs as well as special massage spa chairs for children, with all equipment and products imported.
Kevin Stewart from Lamonds Real Estate, who were in charge of the listing for the site, said the new business was another massive boost for Wynnum.
“It’s not only another business moving into the area but it’s a different type of business as well, which gives the precinct some more variety,” he said.
“They’re also really invested in Wynnum and have signed a 10-year lease, which is incredible.”
Mr Stewart also said he could not believe how far the suburb has come in recent years and didn’t believe it would be long before there were no empty shopfronts in the area.
