A mega marketplace is making its way to the southside, offering customers the choice to shop at more than 120 small business stores, cafes and workshops under one roof.
VEND Marketplace has announced it will open a new branch in Annerley this month.
The multi-store is a shared retail space for small local businesses, enabling them to sell their unique products seven days a week in a brick and mortar setting.
VEND Marketplace director Amy Hinschen said the space allowed small business owners freedom to showcase their products.
“The amazing thing about VEND is our small business owners don’t have to be there to put sales through,” Ms Hinschen said.
“Customers can stroll through and shop from 120 local shops under one roof and our awesome staff take care of all the sales at our front counter.
“VEND also has a cafe, workshop space for creatives, and outdoor seating with a playground.”
After opening VEND Marketplace in Virginia two and half years ago, Ms Hinschen decided it was time to move on to bigger and better opportunities.
“We are beyond excited,” Ms Hinschen said.
“Annerley is such an amazing location in Brisbane’s Southside.
“Being on a main road, it’s really easy to access and with all our basement parking underneath and being so close to public transport we are accessible to everyone.
“It means a chance for more local small businesses to have a shop space within a supportive environment where their products can be accessed everyday.
“VEND is such a beautiful one-off experience so we are excited to bring it to another part of Brisbane.
“It also means creating lots of new jobs and an amazing new team to bring the VEND culture to South Brisbane.”
Vend Marketplace in Annerley has announced it will open its doors for the first time on April 1 for its soft launch, before a grand opening.
“It’s a chance for all of the small businesses to share with their family and friends all they have worked so hard for before our grand opening to the public on Saturday April 8,” Ms Hinschen said.
“It will also give our team of superstars a chance to work together before our grand opening.”
Ms Hinschen said she hoped the marketplace would be a place for the community to thrive and enjoy the hard work of local small businesses.
“We hope to create an amazing place where the community can meet up with family, friends, support groups and fellow creatives, enjoy food and coffee in our cafe, support amazing local retailers seven days a week and create a welcoming and caring environment where everyone leaves with a smile,” she said.
“After our Northside location opened back in 2018 and has just been such an amazing success with the community welcoming us with open arms, we can’t wait for the same for our new Annerley.”
