‘I’ll miss such lovely people’: Owner of favourite treat store bids adieu
A popular north Brisbane nuts and sweets store has announced it will say goodbye in just a few short weeks.

A Northside specialty grocer will say it’s final goodbye in just a few short weeks, after opening less than a year ago.
Carmel Foods on Blackwood St in Mitchelton has announced that it will close its doors, after opening just ten months ago in May 2022.
“We have decided to close our store,” Carmel Foods posted on Facebook.
“We will continue providing you with the best products, nuts, dried fruit and jerky made everyday till our last trading day.
“Thank you all for your support – we have been honoured to be part of this wonderful community.”
However, while the physical store will be missed, Carmel Foods will remain fully operational as an online business for customers to order from and will continue to do so in the future.
The specialty grocer, which offers a range of snacks including, beef jerky, dried fruits, nuts, seeds, confectionery and even chickpea chips, will close it’s physical shop in just a few short weeks.
“We will be open till the end of April,” the owner, Joe, said.
“I’ll be sure to miss such lovely people.
“It was lovely being part of this community.”
Many loyal customers of the local grocer have been left shocked by the news, flocking to social media to share their sadness.
“We’ll miss our friendly chats, Joe; and of course the yummy selections the store has to offer,” Kat Svalbe commented on Facebook.
“I'm so sorry to hear that,” Emma Comerford said.
“I’ll miss chatting with you when I pop in to get some granola ingredients.”
“Oh what! This is our favourite treat store; I’m so sad to hear that such a valued member of our community is closing,” Rachael Chapman-Oliver said.
“You are going to be surely missed.”
