A northside cafe has opened its doors to customers who are raving about their delicious drinks and insta-worthy food.
The cafe, named Mitch and Antler cafe, opened its doors on Saturday, February 11, for their first day of business.
Co-Owners, brothers Tze-Huei and Chewie Choo, said they found an opportunity after the spot at 62 Suez St in Mitchelton became available and couldn’t pass it up.
“When the old corner store in Mitchelton became available, it was a no-brainer, and we quickly snapped it up,” the brothers said.
Tze-Huei Choo said the Southern California-inspired cafe will have about 11 dishes, changing seasonally off his notion of ‘keep it small but cook it well.
“Me and my brother always wanted to do something together,” he said.
“It’s in a great spot, with a great community.
“The idea is to open other different concepts that I have in mind and hopefully I can make a name in Brisbane.”
The cafe offers a variety of “no guilt” — non-alcoholic — cocktails, with brand Seedlip as their base, to provide an alternative way of drinking to Brisbane’s growing market of sober and sober-curious people.
The cafe has gotten some rave reviews on Facebook.
Bronwyn Rayner said: “Just had a beautiful breakfast at Mitch and Antler”.
“The Choo brothers and their team were so welcoming.
“We had the truffled eggs, salmon pastrami and avo on toast.
“All disappeared before I could even get a photo.
“Highly recommend.”
An Thony said he was pleasantly surprised.
“I dropped in this morning for a coffee and pastry.
“Was impressed by their fresh pastry selections.
“They didn’t look like the usual cabinet rubbish you see at most cafes.”
The brothers have more than four decades of combined experience in the hospitality industry and want Mitch & Antler to showcase a contemporary take on the traditional cafe experience across Brisbane. Offering the classics, but with a modern Japanese and European twist.
The brothers have hired Ash Kettle as head chef who is known for cooking in some of Australia’s best known kitchens.
Mitch and Antler operates seven days a week, between 6.30am and 2.30pm, and caters to up to 60 people at a time.
