STAFF at Logan’s Containers for Change got a shock when this slithery stowaway was located in a soft drink can donated for recycling.
While sorting through cans on Friday, one of the workers noticed one was heavier than the rest and there were peculiar scales inside the can.
Upon further inspection, a small common tree snake was found curled up inside.
A snake catcher was called to remove the reptile from the centre.
Warmer weather causes snakes to become more active but during cooler months in winter they become less active.
