A Pool concreter has admitted his drug issues to a Magistrate after he was caught driving while on meth.
Thornlands pebblecrete worker, Dean Jacob Gielnik, 26, pleaded guilty in Cleveland Magistrates Court to one count of drug driving.
The court heard Gielnik was driving along Moreton Bay Rd in Capalaba on January 23 this year when he was stopped by police.
Gielnik, who was self represented, said he had personal problems that turned him towards drugs.
“I have an ongoing situation,” Gielnik said.
“It changed the person I was and I started using meth as an escape drug.
“I'm starting to realise that I need to clean my act up and move forward.
“It’s more of a lesson that this has happened to me.”
Gielnik said after working as a concreter for a period of time, he now had a new job.
“I've just picked up a new job doing pebblecrete, concreting pools,” he said.
“Losing my licence will be a big thing for me getting to work every morning.”
Magistrate Deborah Vasta placed Gilniek on probation for 12 months and disqualified him from driving for one month.
No convictions were recorded.
