A fundraising campaign is under way for the victims of a horrific alleged hit and run southeast of Brisbane, including a mother who has been left in a coma.

Police allege the Victoria Point couple, Jaay Edwards, 25, and her partner Cooper Kennedy, 24, were enjoying a date night at the Muay Thai fights at the Alexandra Hills Hotel on Saturday, March 11, when they were allegedly struck down deliberately by a car.

Mr Kennedy’s sister Aynsley Rose created a GoFundMe campaign after the shock of discovering her youngest brother and his partner had been seriously injured during the incident.

“As a result of the horrific hit and run, Cooper and Jamie were rushed to the hospital for treatment, where Jamie was also put into a medically induced coma due to the extent of her injuries,” Ms Rose wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“To this day, Jamie remains in the intensive care unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital with her family sitting by her side, hoping for improvement.

“During this tragic and unfathomable time, we are seeking assistance from the community to help cover the ongoing medical/ rehabilitation costs,” The GoFundMe page read.

“Any donations made will also help provide Cooper, Jamie and their two children with much needed support.

“We thank you for any donation you make.

“No donation is too small and every bit will go towards the recovery of this young family.”

Mr Kennedy told The Courier-Mail on Wednesday that the mother of his two children aged two and six months has been placed in a “deeper coma with heavier medication” at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

“Jaay isn’t in a good state,” he said.

“I am no longer working and have no source of income… I am living off my savings while providing for our two children.”

The accused driver, Salisbury resident Joseph Peter Pritchard, appeared in Cleveland Magistrates Court via videolink on Wednesday on two accounts of attempted murder and possessing utensils.

Pritchard’s lawyer Brittany White said her client would not be applying for bail.

He was due to appear again for committal mention on May 4.
