Rejected unit development wins appeal after rejection

The developers behind a controversial unit development in Wellington Point which was rejected by council earlier this year have just won their appeal in the Planning and Environment Court.

A JUDGE has ruled a contentious unit development at Wellington Point go ahead following a three-month appeal process.

In January Redland City Councillors voted to reject the development application for 10 single-bedroom units proposed for 18 Chermside St, in the centre of a quiet residential street.

The project was voted down based on concerns around setbacks, space and privacy.

Developers Daln Pty Ltd appealed the ruling and last Wednesday Judge Nicole Kefford ruled the application be approved, providing it comply with a list of minor changes and conditions including unobstructed parking spaces and privacy in the form of screening for residents.
