Appearing via phone at the Cleveland Magistrates Court on Thursday Janet Rebecca Everitt, 31, had her bail hearing adjourned to June 16.

The court heard Everitt, who was in audible distress during the hearing, was among a number of individuals identified by Operation Romeo Heart Throb which is investigating the trafficking of methylamphetamine in the bayside area.

Everitt was alleged to have been located with 35.5 grams of methylamphetamine, 3.3 grams of cannabis and $1,200 in cash and numerous mobile phones showing alleged drug related correspondence.

The alleged offending spanned from December last year to Wednesday across Brisbane and Cannon Hill.

Magistrate Deborah Vasta made clear she would not be released on the day.

“I understand you are scared of withdrawing in custody,” Magistrate Vasta said.

“The alternative is you get released back into the community and you will use again there is absolutely no doubt in my mind; you are a drug addict, you will say and do anything to get out of the watch-house.

“You just need to withdraw and you are going to do it in the safety of the prison system.”

Defence solicitor Kelli Martin said her client was a qualified chef with very little criminal history who had a developed a “quick” drug addiction after moving from New Zealand.

Ms Martin said Everitt was determined to enter a drug rehabilitation program should she be released.

However, police prosecutor Emily Ollenburg said Ice was a “major, major problem” in the bayside area and the defendant posed too great a risk to the community.

Matters were further complicated when it was revealed Everitt would reside with her partner at Cannon Hill should she be granted bail.

“Right now you are in very serious trouble and it seems like pretty much everyone around you is saturated in the drugs scene,” Magistate Vasta said.

“The person you are living with, your partner, has been charged with drug offences and has gone to the High Court and the people you are co-charged with are all in some serious trouble and they all seem to have a lot of (criminal) history in this (drug offending)”.

The bail hearing was adjourned with Everitt to next appear at the court on June 16.
