A Stradbroke Island arts performer and health worker has faced court after he was found with seven different dangerous and restricted drugs when police pulled him over, a court has heard.

A Stradbroke Island arts performer and health worker has faced court after police discovered a cocktail of dangerous and restricted drugs in his car and home.

Point Lookout resident, Lachlan E. Madden, pleaded guilty in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on Tuesday, July 26 to 10 drug-related offences, including possessing dangerous or restricted drugs and drug utensils.

The court heard the 32-year-old was intercepted on August 21 last year while driving to Point Lookout, where a search revealed an astonishing cocktail of drugs, including methylamphetamine, diazepam, cannabis, ecstasy and cocaine.

“Certainly if he doesn’t change, he is facing jail time,” police prosecutor, Sergeant Duncan Blackburn, said.

A second search at his home on September 17 last year uncovered packs of pills, powdered substances, scales, cannabis and ecstasy, along with a phone used for drug transactions and a clip sealed bag of cannabis in the fridge, the court heard.

“He said he intended to use it to make (cannabis) butter,” Sergeant Blackburn said.

Mr Madden’s lawyer said her client had struggled with finding a job after Covid-19 hit and had turned to drugs.

“He fell into a deep depression, being unemployed,” they said.

Magistrate Deborah Vasta said the amount of different drugs was concerning.

“It’s such a cocktail of drugs,” Ms Vasta said.

“You’re someone that has an incredible range of life experience, you’ve given back to the community.”

Mr Madden was fined $700 and no convictions were recorded.
