PLANS for the new-look Redland Bay Shopping Village have been revealed as part of the project’s development application.
Developers DTS Group made the application to Redland City Council on behalf of site owners Fox and Bell Group for the site at the corner of Broadwater Terrace and Stradbroke St Redland Bay.
The project would see the entire precinct overhauled to better cater for the growing region which will include the mammoth Shoreline residential development, which is expected to grow the region’s population by thousands in the coming years.
The project would considerably grow the current site — taking in a row of homes behind the current Village.
Roadworks for the development would include upgrading the existing right-hand turn from Broadwater Terrace, however it would come at the cost of the loss of several street parking spaces on the eastern side of the road.

It would be the first major development at the shopping village — which was first opened as a neighbourhood centre in 1982 — since a redevelopment was carried out in 2000.
The plans include the demolition of 861 sqm of the existing centre and seven adjoining houses however two existing buildings located in the south-east and north-east corners of the site would be retained.
The new shopping centre would include a full-line supermarket, bottle shop, and other retail shops as well as 278 car parks and improved pedestrian access from Stradbroke
St.
Existing businesses include a medical centre on Stradbroke St and those within the current shopping centre would be demolished.
