TWENTY cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Redlands— two of those cases cannot be traced.
The figure comes as the Queensland Government released COVID-19 data for each local government area today.
Sixteen of the city’s cases were acquired overseas while four were contracted locally — including a Thornlands family of three which contracted the virus after a trip to Belgium.
Comprehensive data released by the State Government today has revealed 408 cases have been reported so far across the area, with 319 of those acquired from overseas.

For two of those cases, health authorities cannot track where the person picked up the virus.
The Government’s COVID-19 could help quash the rumour mill in the Redlands’ most vulnerable communities.
News earlier today about the heat map came after Redland City Mayor Karen Williams urged Health Minister Steven Miles to share more information with her community.
Cr Williams said she had heard rumours of COVID-19 patients isolating on the islands, but those rumours were dispelled by Chief Health Officer Jeanette Young.
“I have written to Health Minister Steven Miles requesting more detailed information about where cases have been identified across the city so we can dispel these rumours and get the facts out there,” Cr Williams said at the time.
There had been a special focus on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands — which have aging and indigenous populations at high risk of the virus — with measures including a travel ban placed on tourist hot spot Stradbroke Island.
Residents of neighbouring Macleay Island had also urged outsiders to stay away to keep their community safe however no one really knew which areas were more at risk.
Several fever clinics have opened in the region including at Redland Hospital, and the new localised data will help residents know what the outcomes of tests from those locations are.
The heat map also comes after Liberal Member for Oodgeroo Mark Robinson slammed the Queensland Government for leaving Redland Hospital “underprepared” for the viral outbreak after the first cases at the hospital were confirmed, saying its lack of an ICU could leave hospital staff scambling to deal with the crisis.
