An elderly woman killed in a horror crash on Russell Island which also left her husband in hospital is will be farewelled this week as the community mourns her death.
Family and friends will say their final goodbyes to Pauline Oliver, 79, on February 1 after she died in a two-vehicle crash on the island on January 19.
Initial police investigations indicated a Toyota Corolla, driven by her husband Ron, and a Chevrolet Silverado crashed at the intersection of High St and Bamboo Rd about 7.50pm.
Mrs Oliver died at the scene and her husband was taken to hospital with minor injuries, believed to have included a fractured spine and ribs.
Three men in the Silverado suffered minor injuries.
Mrs Oliver, from Redland Bay, was due to be farewelled at a funeral service in Carbrook on Logan.
Her family and friends took to social media in the weeks since the crash to pay tribute to their mum and grandmother.
“No one deserves to go the way you did, but you especially didn’t deserve it. Until we see you again Nana,” one family member wrote.
“Our hearts are breaking as well. She will be greatly missed, she was always smiling and laughing,” a friend posted.
“I loved hearing that laugh when we spoke on the phone. Sending lots of love hugs to everyone.’’
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said no charges had been laid and investigations were continuing.
Police encouraged anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
