A court has been shown confronting footage of an Eagleby woman’s “continual rage” after police questioned her about an alleged assault on an elderly woman.

A 30-year-old who allegedly assaulted an elderly woman and threatened to burn down her house has had her bail denied after a magistrate viewed distressing footage of her alleged “continual rage”.

Eagleby woman Natasha Summa Hardy’s fury was plain to see in the dock when she appeared at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Hardy, who also lives in Redlands, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, serious assault of a person over 60 and two counts of wilful damage.

The court heard Hardy returned to a Cleveland property after allegedly threatening to burn it down.

Police body camera footage shown to the court allegedly showed Hardy at the property after she had broken a window and was attempting to enter it.

A police prosecutor said Hardy then assaulted an elderly woman at the residence.

Her aggressive behaviour had been ongoing, according to police, who said numerous neighbours of the alleged victim provided statements about the incident.

The prosecutor showed two videos of police attending the property on two occasions.

The videos showed significant internal damage and a furious Hardy abusing police.

Hardy could be heard telling police: “If you kick me I will cut your f****n throat … I just woke up and you c***s are in my grill … you ignorant f****n c**t”.

Footage taken when police were called to the property in April showed Hardy scratching an officer and hurling during her arrest.

The prosecutor said significant resources had been devoted to Hardy to address her drug-induced “continual rage”.

“It is behavioural,” they said.

The court heard a court-ordered mental health check had also found no indications of acute mental health illness.

Hardy’s lawyer, Kurt McDonald, said she had been going through “significant psychological difficulty’’, had stopped drinking and was unsuited for prison.

“Prison is not the place for someone in her circumstances,” Mr McDonald said.

He said Hardy would pose no threat to witnesses, with appropriate reporting duties, and would stay with her sister should she be released on bail.

But Magistrate Deborah Vasta took Hardy to task for her alleged “obscene behaviour”.

“Your client is out of control; I think she will continue to offend,” Ms Vasta said.

Hardy’s angry pleas from the dock were met with shock from the magistrate.

“Did you listen to yourself?” Ms Vasta asked.

“To the garbage coming out of your mouth?

“Just look at the damage you have (allegedly) done.”

She said Hardy was too great a risk for release and remanded her in custody until her next appearance on November 16.
