Team Plodder Power consists of Renee Dikeni, Kylie Maudlen, Sandy Krammer and Zoe Brenner who will all run a challenging 100km.

Renee Dikeni said the team met on Facebook through the Redlands Plodders group and were excited to participate in the event for the second year in a row.

“Last year we did 55km and we were the first complete team to finish,” she said.

“We finished in just shy of 10 hours.

“It’s 100km this year so we will be excited if we can all finish.

“We’re hoping to finish in 19 to 20 hours.”

Mrs Dikeni said the team trained four to five times a week in between work and family commitments.

Oxfam Trailwalker spokesperson Anna Wemyss said the runners would be helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the event in Australia.

“Since 1999, more than 90,000 Trailwalkers around the country have raised more than $100 million for Oxfam Australia’s work tackling poverty around the world,” she said.

“What’s great about Trailwalker in Australia, two decades on, are the different reasons people do it.

“Some come together to challenge themselves to do 55km or 100km for the first time; some for the tenth; some as part of a journey towards overcoming personal adversity; some to beat their personal best; some to support their friends and others.

“What unites them is this – walkers and their supporters draw incredible strength from knowing each step they take on the trail is helping people in poverty. This is the true spirit of Trailwalker.”

Participants of the 100km trail have 48 hours to complete the challenge which begins at Mt Glorious and concludes at Mt Coot-Tha, while those running the 55km trail will have 24 hours to finish.
