Mark Richard Southey loses job after drunk driving offence

A bayside retail manager has faced court after being caught drunk behind the wheel.
Mark Richard Southey, 43, pleaded guilty in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday, December 13, to one count of driving a motor vehicle while over the middle alcohol limit.
The court heard Southey was intercepted by police while driving in Capalaba on November 21 this year.
He told police he had alcohol prior to driving.
He returned a breath analysis reading of 0.126 per cent.
Southey was self represented in court and said he had suffered loss after being charged.
“I regret my actions,” Southey said.
“It actually cost me my job, in retail management.”
Magistrate Deborah Vasta said she hoped he learnt from his mistakes.
Southey was convicted and fined $1200.
He was disqualified from driving for three months.
No convictions were recorded.
