Hundreds turned out to cast their votes in the southside seat of Bowman, which is being vacated by long-serving LNP member Andrew Laming.
Despite the rain, the Uniting Church at Cleveland was awash with red, blue, green, yellow, white, light green and teal posters.
Quest conducted an exit poll of 100 voters at the Cleveland booth during the day with 63 claiming to have voted for the LNP; 31 for the ALP; two for the Greens and two for the United Australia Party.
Rain made it a bit chilly, but that did not stop Betty Jones, 96, from donning her best faux fur coat and head to the pre-polling ballot box to record her election wishes.
Sophie the dog was also dressed up in a warm suit.
