A Redlands-based civil contracting business of 20 years, responsible for some key projects across Brisbane, goes into administration owing $2.5 million to creditors.
Perry O’Brien Engineering of Redland Bay recently entered into voluntary administration.
Originally established in 1997 as Earthpro Pty Ltd, according to the company’s website, it experienced a change of ownership in 2015, with the new owners Robert Perry and Michael O’Brien rebranding the company.
Appointed liquidator Dane Hammond from Worrells confirmed Perry O’Brien Engineering has ceased trading and that shares in the company were purchased in 2015/2016.
“The company records indicate approximately $2.5 million is owed to creditors, with a significant portion of this being ATO debt,” Mr Hammond said.
“Whilst there does appear to be some genuine reasons for the company’s financial troubles, it is too early in the administration process to provide any meaningful comment.”
The privately owned civil contracting business specialised in bulk and detailed earthworks, roadworks, car parks, drainage and more, according to the company's website.
Some of Perry O’Brien Engineering’s notable projects include the redevelopment and upgrade of the Nudgee and Chandler transfer stations, valued at $1.3m and $2m respectively, along with the rehabilitation of the Birkdale Landfill site, valued at $5.8m.
Mr Hammond said he is yet to determine how many employees worked at Perry O’Brien Engineering up to the time the company ceased trading.
