A Brisbane methamphetamine addict and trafficker sold more than $75,000 worth of the destructive drug in the space of three months, a court has heard.

Spring Hill man Rayne Nuko Tito Wichman, 28, understood to be a former resident of the Redlands, pleaded guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday to trafficking in ice, possessing more than 2g of ice, and possessing anything used in the commission of a drug offence.

He also pleaded guilty to summary offences including stealing, receiving tainted property, and possessing a drug utensil.

The court heard Wichman’s drug trafficking occurred between March 1 – May 1 last year, a period which commenced less than a month after he was granted parole on previous drug offences.

During his period of trafficking, police identified 44 separate transactions, or conversations preparatory to a transaction.

In total, police identified $76,094 transacted through Wichman’s bank accounts as the proceeds of drug trafficking.

When he was arrested on May 1 last year at Spring Hill, officers discovered Wichman wearing a backpack which contained about 11.7g of pure meth.

It was submitted on Wichman’s behalf that the money was only used to feed his spiralling addiction and there was no profit motive.

The court heard Wichman had a lengthy criminal history of drug-type offending, including a sentence on November 2, 2016, of six-and-a-half years’ imprisonment, which was activated due to his subsequent offending.

All up, over the past decade, Wichman had only spent “three or four years” in the community.

It was submitted on Wichman’s behalf that his hopeless addiction to ice was the only “shred of comfort” in his life, so dysfunctional was his family, upbringing, and lack of support in the community, which saw him living in brothels and boarding houses due to his inability to find stable accommodation.

Justice David Boddice sentenced Wichman to four years’ imprisonment, with parole eligibility set at January 18, 2023.
