Owners of a north Brisbane sweets shop have made a heartbreaking decision to close after more than 20 years in the business.

A north Brisbane sweet shop has made a heartbreaking decision after more than 20 years in the business.

A northside confectioner will say its final goodbye in just a few short weeks, marking an end to its 20 of operation.

Sweetheart Confectionery in Stafford announced it would close its doors some time around April 24.

“Sadly we are letting go of our iconic store in the Stafford City Shopping Centre, opposite the Hoyts theatres,” Sweetheart Confectionery posted on Facebook.

“We are retiring and looking for a quick handover.

“A new lease is available to take over, stock is included.”

Many movie goers and loyal customers have been left shocked that their favourite snack stop for the movies will be no longer.

“Oh so sad, such fond memories growing up and the owners are absolutely just beautiful people,” Tom Ridgewell commented on Facebook.

“Noooo the owners are retiring,” Bronwyn Rayner commented.

“Many sweet memories.”

Sweetheart Confectionery, which offers a range of sweets and snacks including cereal, lollies, chocolate and even pickles, has operated since the early 2000s.

“Going to the movies won’t be quite the same anymore,” Caroline Loader commented.

Owners of the much-loved lolly store have put up a sign in the store thanking their loyal customers over the years.

“Thank you for your loyalty over the past 20 years,” the sign read.

The store will continue to sell their products until their closure in April.
