Northside man forged doctors note after he did not report in on bail

He went to the doctor and got a certificate but then altered it to try and convince police that he was too sick to report in on bail.

Australia's Court System

A northside man altered a medical certificate to try and convince police he had been sick for longer than he had been.

Joshua James Ready pleaded guilty in writing at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to forging and medical certificate and using that forged document.

Ready was on bail on an unrelated charge and had to report in to the Petrie Police Station every day.

The court heard he did not report to police for a number of days. When he did come back he gave police a medical certificate that claimed he been too sick to attend for a period of seven days.

But when police called the doctor to confirm the certificate they were told Ready had only been sick for one day.

The court heard Ready had altered the medical certificate so the number “one” instead said “seven”.

When police spoke to him about it police told him he could not have done it because he “wasn’t smart enough”.

Ready was fined $750. A conviction was recorded.
