Big-name home bedding and decor retailer Pillow Talk will close the doors to its Toombul outlet Sunday.
Brand co-founder and managing director Heath Goddard said the store, which had been in Toombul shopping centre for the past five years, was converted into a clearance outlet about three months ago and is now running its final sales.
“People have been getting a bargain,” he said.
Mr Goddard said the company’s newer Skygate outlet at Brisbane Airport, next to the DFO, would cater to customers who had previously visited the Toombul store.
The Skygate store is about 4km from Toombul shopping centre in Nundah.
Mr Goddard said the planned closure of the Toombul outlet coincided with the end of the store’s lease agreement.
He said some fixtures from the store would be used by a new outlet opening in Springwood in the coming weeks.
Mr Goddard said the brand had seen success despite disruptions caused by COVID-19 thanks to a quick pivot to focus on online sales, advertising campaigns and contactless collection options.
“We had to be quick on our feet,” he said.
“It went from awful to positive in the space of three weeks.”
A spokesperson from Toombul Centre Management said the centre was “currently finalising the replacement for Pillow Talk and details will be announced in the coming weeks”.
