A MAN with a lengthy criminal history told who told police he wouldn’t abide by coronavirus pandemic restrictions and he would “go wherever he wants” has been jailed.

The court heard when Bird was confronted by police for breaching the COVID-19 health restrictions he told then he would “do whatever he wants and go wherever the f*** he wants”.

Bird has a 19 page-long criminal history spanning more than two decades.

The court heard Bird was homeless during the start of the coronavirus pandemic and struggled to adhere to restrictions.

On April 20, Bird was arrested in Sandgate for breaching the public health directions, stealing a drink and stealing tissues and shampoo from Chemist Warehouse.

While in a police vehicle he spat “hocked up” spit and spat it in the back if the car.

Bird appeared in court via video link from prison. He repeatedly interrupted the prosecutor, his lawyer and the magistrate during their deliberations.

He told the court the police “didn’t know him” and was “reading from a bit of paper to make me look bad”.

Although Bird has been in prison for nearly three months there was some confusion over the exact amount of prison time the court could consider already served.

Magistrate Jennifer Batts adjourned the sentence until the correct length of his current imprisonment was established.
