QUEENSLAND learner drivers can continue to earn their 100 hours’ supervised driving requirement during the coronavirus crisis, despite the suspension of practical driving tests.

However a Transport and Main Roads spokesman said learner drivers and their families, like all Queenslanders, should adhere to the latest health advice.

“We recommend only one licensed family member or guardian accompany the learner driver and continue to observe and monitor all health directives,” the spokesman said.

Practical driving tests were suspended from March 28 for at least three months.

Budding drivers are keen to get their licence,” the spokesman said.

“While driving tests are suspended, they can continue to fill their logbooks by driving with a family member as supervisor.

“As the COVID-19 response evolves there could be further restrictions and all drivers – learners or licensed – will need to be aware of any changed conditions.”

The logbook requirements for learner drivers is to record 100 hours of supervised driving experience, including 10 hours of night driving (between sunset and sunrise).
