Girl rushed to hospital with significant injuries and road shutdown

A girl in her early teens is in a serious condition after she was struck by a car on a busy north Brisbane street this afternoon.

A girl in her early teens has been rushed to hospital after she was hit by a car in Mitchelton this afternoon.

The crash occurred outside Mitchelton Special School but is has not been confirmed as to whether the crash involved a child from that school.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics took the girl to the Queensland Children’s Hospital with a major leg injury, after she was hit by a car on Osborne Road, Mitchelton at 3.21pm.

Osborne Road was closed by police until 4.05pm, with a Queensland Police Service spokesperson confirming police won’t be sending out a forensic crash unit.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the girl was in a serious but stable condition.

The collision has caused traffic on surrounding roads including Blackwood Street and Ruby Road to bank up with peak hour traffic.
