A picnic in Samford is about to get a lot more delicious, with a favourite northwest seafood cafe to open its second venture in the gorgeous location.
The beautiful northwest spot already draws a crowd with its landscapes, village stores, picnic spots and cafes as well as its famed Harry Potter-themed shop.
From next month, Fish Lips Seafood Cafe — which has won over locals in Ferny Hills for many years — will operate a store at 19 Main St in the idyllic Moreton Bay village next month.
Owners, James and Hayley Maginness (a chef and teacher, respectively) said there was still a lot of work to do before opening their doors, hopefully in mid to late September.
“We have planned a refurbishment and due to the current climate (we) are waiting for our new equipment to arrive and be installed,” Hayley Maginness said.
After opening a Fish Lips store at 10 Woodhill Rd, Ferny Hills, the duo decided it was time for the next step.
“When an opportunity arose for us to expand to the Samford community we jumped at the chance to make it happen,” Mrs Maginness said.
“We are really excited to provide the Samford community and surrounds quality fresh and cooked seafood on a consistent basis and to take our Fish Lips service to the Samford doorstep.”
The menu will feature both fresh Australian seafood and New Zealand products.
“We will be providing an abundance of fresh seafood, cooked fish and chips, burgers and breakfast items,” Mrs Maginness said.
“Whilst we are unable to provide gluten free options at our Ferny store due to fryer space — we are hoping to have a separate chip fryer at Samford to enable us to provide gluten free options for the coeliac community.
“We have had such overwhelming feedback and support from the people of Samford. We hear the town is buzzing with excitement which is a great motivator for us.
“We are confident that there is heaps of demand as we will be the sole fish and chip shop in the village.”
The new owners are advertising positions for front and back of house staff in order to keep up with demand.
